Halloween Edition: Out of This World Costume Inspiration
Halloween is a fashion designer's favorite holiday. When Erin Draper employee Michele commented that my white Kalla tunic was "so Luke Skywalker," I knew what I had to do to pay tribute to the ultimate dress-up holiday. Science fiction and fashion have long influenced each other. And why not? They're not so different: Sci-fi costumes, like the plotlines they belong to, are innovative and imaginative but still reflect something about the times in which they were created. Sounds like fashion to me! I used my white Kalla Tunic
, navy Elgin Top
and black Juno Leggings
to evoke two of the year's biggest movies, Stars Wars and Star Trek. Halloween is on a Monday this year, so these looks transition from daytime to costume party with just a few simple props!

June 22 Update: We are now selling cotton/silk masks guided by this study as well as 2-layer high-thread-count cotton masks. Visit the Masks section of our shop.
A recent study testing the effectiveness of cloth masks made with a variety of fabrics found that adding 2 layers of natural silk, 2 layers of 90% poly/10% spandex chiffon or one layer of 65% cotton/35% poly flannel to a high thread count cotton mask resulted in protection that is only “slightly inferior to the N95 mask above 300 nm, but superior for particles smaller than 300 nm.”
My versatile Leslie cover-up can be worn three different ways for three great looks -- as a cardigan, with a flattering wrap-dress look, or tied in front. Here's how to create each of these looks.
